Person dies following single-vehicle crash in Bay of Plenty

A person has died following a single-vehicle crash in Bay of Plenty this afternoon.

Police said they were called to the scene near Mimiha Rd in Matatā around 12.30pm.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find one person dead.

"Police are now making inquiries to determine the circumstances of the crash," police said.

A St John spokesperson told 1News it was alerted to the crash at 12.25pm and responded with one helicopter.

"Our crew were not required for transportation."
