Pams beef lasagne recalled after use-by date wrong by two months

Pams Beef Lasagne (1.3 kg) with the date mark "USE BY 01MAY26" was affected by this recall.

A batch of Pams beef lasagne sold in North Island supermarkets is being recalled due to an incorrect use-by date.

The recalled product was Pams brand beef lasagne (1.3kg) with a with a use-by date of 01MAY26, sold at Four Square, New World, and Pak’n Save supermarkets across the North Island.

New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) said it was supporting Foodstuffs Own Brands in its recall, as the use-by date listed on the package was incorrect by two months.

"It should have been March 1, which is this Sunday, but instead it is incorrectly labelled as May 1," said NZFS deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle.

Pams Beef Lasagne (1.3 kg) with the date mark "USE BY 01MAY26" was affected by this recall.

"These products should not be eaten after Sunday. You can return them to the place of purchase for a refund. If that’s not possible, throw them out," he said.

Anyone who ate these products, or were concerned for their health, were urged to contact a health professional, or call Healthline on 0800 611 116 for free advice.

The products were imported from Australia and labelled in New Zealand.

"As is our usual practice, NZFS will work with Foodstuffs Own Brands to understand how the how the date mark labelling error occurred and prevent its recurrence," said Arbuckle.
