Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is speaking about violent crime figures at a media conference in central Auckland this afternoon.
He will be joined by Minister of Justice Paul Goldsmith and Police Minister Mark Mitchell.
According to the Government, the latest New Zealand Crime and Victims Survey showed 49,000 fewer victims of violent crime in the year to October 2025 than two years previously.
Police are also launching a new so-called beat team in Hamilton this week, the latest in 12 such teams set up nationwide.
The news conference is due to start around 1.30pm.
