Motorists are being urged to "take extra care" on three state highways in the central North Island due to chunks of tar reported to have come loose on the roads.
A police spokesperson said officers had received reports of chunks of tar on State Highway 1, State Highway 4, and State Highway 49, in the Manawatū-Whanganui region between Waiouru and Sanson this morning.
"Motorists are urged to take extra care while police and contractors work to clear the chunks," they said.
Anyone who had seen a chunk of tar on the roads was urged to contact police on 105.
The morning's headlines in 90 seconds, including a New Zealander arrested for allegedly accessing extremist material, and Scott Robertson has a new job. (Source: 1News)
