'Stay indoors': Gas leak reported in Petone

Petone residents have been advised to stay indoors and close windows after a gas leak this morning.

Emergency services were called to Bouverie St at around 11.30am on Monday.

Contractors were currently at the scene working on the leak, with Bouverie St closed between Udy and Cuba streets.

"Members of the public in the surrounding area are advised to stay indoors and close any windows," a police spokesperson said.
