Pedestrian dies following hit-and-run in Te Anau

A pedestrian has died following a hit-and-run in the popular tourist town of Te Anau this morning.

Police said they were called to the scene at the Te Anau Town Centre around 8.45am.

"The driver of the vehicle involved left the scene and police would now like to speak to them," a police spokesperson said.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or had dashcam footage of the crash or the moments leading up to it was asked to contact police on 105.
