Two men appear in court after alleged gang shooting in Christchurch

The identities of two men allegedly involved in a suspected gang-related shooting in Christchurch can be revealed.

Police were called to a house on Hoani St in the suburb of Northcote at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, where a gun was fired during an altercation.

This morning, Canterbury District Commander Superintendent Tony Hill said three men aged 19, 31 and 40 were charged following the incident.

Two of the alleged offenders were named as Tainui Mohi, 19, and Cory William Smith, 31, in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.

A 40-year-old man also linked to the incident was due to appear in the Dunedin District Court.

The trio were charged with aggravated wounding and aggravated robbery.

Two of the alleged offenders were named as 19-year-old Tainui Mohi and 31-year-old Cory William Smith in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.

Court documents showed one person was targeted, and $200 was taken.

Mohi and Smith appeared via video link. Supporters of Mohi sitting in the public gallery yelled out "love you" during proceedings.

No applications for bail were made.

Mohi and Smith would reappear in court in March, when they were expected to enter pleas to the joint charges.
