Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested over suspicion of misconduct in public office

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former British prince who was stripped of his royal titles because of his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, was arrested overnight on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

While Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection with his friendship with Epstein, concerns about Mountbatten-Windsor’s links to the late financier have dogged the royal family for more than a decade.

Following the arrest, King Charles III said that the law must take its course, and he sought to reassure the British public he would continue to serve them.

'Avoid exposure': Firefighters battle blaze at Auckland college

More than 40 firefighters battled a fire that broke out in a heritage building at Auckland's Northcote College this afternoon.

Fire and Emergency NZ said the alarm was raised at 12.17pm on Friday, with volunteer fire brigades and an assistant commander arriving at 12.29pm.

"Eleven fire trucks are attending and more on the way, roughly 44 firefighters in attendance right now," a Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said.

Two men appear in court after alleged gang shooting in Christchurch

The identities of two men allegedly involved in a suspected gang-related shooting in Christchurch can be revealed.

Two of the alleged offenders were named as Tainui Mohi, 19, and Cory William Smith, 31, in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.

ONE TRAVEL WARNING

A travel expert has expressed concern about NZ-British dual nationals attempting to "wing it" at the border ahead of changes in requirements to enter the UK – which come into force on Tuesday.

From February 25, those who are eligible for a UK passport, including the children of those who are eligible, are required to get one before entering the country. They can no longer enter on a New Zealand passport.
