One person has been injured after an shooting in Porirua placed nearby schools into lockdown this morning.
Police were called to Dido Pl in the suburb of Cannons Creek to reports of gunshots at around 7.40am on Friday.
Porirua College said there was an "active police situation" at around 8.10am and asked students and staff not already at school to stay home. The lockdown lifted shortly before 9am.

Kāpiti-Mana area commander Inspector Renée Perkins said those lockdowns had since been lifted and appealed to the public for information.
"Residents can expect to see an ongoing police presence as our investigations progress," she said.
"There is not believed to be any risk to the wider public following this incident."
Anyone who witnessed the incident, as well as those in and around Dido Pl and surrounding areas at the time of the incident should contact police on 105.
Wellington Free Ambulance said one patient was taken to Wellington Hospital in a minor condition.
