A man whose body was found in a secluded part of a Tauranga park has been named by police as the investigation into his "suspicious" death continues.
He was 54-year-old Dax Rodney Holland.
Holland's body was found in a secluded part of Wharepau Domain on Saturday afternoon, and a homicide investigation was launched after a post-mortem found his death "suspicious".
According to Stuff, Holland was a "well-known" and "well-liked" person within the Tauranga homeless community.
Ani Stace, general manager of Under the Stars, an organisation supporting homeless people in Tauranga, told SunLive that Holland was a "real character".
“He was a real individual in his thinking and always had something interesting to say.”
As the investigation into his death continued, police continued to appeal for anyone who may have seen any unusual or suspicious behaviour around the Wharepau Domain prior to 2pm on Saturday, 14 February.
Anyone with information was asked to call the police on 105.
