‘Significant amount’ of gold and silver bullion taken in Auckland heist

Police said the burglary took place between January 14 and January 27.

A "significant amount" of silver and gold has been stolen from a property in Auckland's Swanson.

Police said the burglary took place in the suburb sometime between January 14 and January 27.

Police Waitematā west tactical crime unit Detective Shaun Galbraith said a large quantity of silver bullion, including 1kg silver bars, have been taken.

Each of the bars were imprinted with a "MW" (Morris & Watson) inscription, he said.

"A number of 1oz gold Kiwi coins were also stolen from the property."

Galbraith said the combined value of the items was "significant".

"We are determined to locate those responsible and hold them to account but we need the public's help."

Galbraith said police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen people or vehicles around the Swanson Road and Christian Road areas between January 14 and January 27.

"If you noticed unusual activity near rural driveways, gate areas, or properties backing onto the Swanson rail corridor then please reach out."

He said police were also keen to hear from people who may have been offered a large amount of silver or gold for sale in unusual circumstances.

"If you have any information regarding the burglary or the whereabouts of the bullion please contact police."

Information could be provided via 105 either online or over the phone.
