A person has died after being thrown from a vehicle in a late-night Whangārei crash.
Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash at about 10.50pm. It occurred on Knight Rd in Ruatangata West.
Three other people in the vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The serious crash unit examined the scene, closing the road before it was later reopened. The death has been referred to the coroner.
