  • The storm system that brought flooding, destruction, school closures, evacuations and travel disruptions moved south yesterday.
  • All watches and warnings have since expired.
  • Most other areas were in for a better day of weather, with only scattered showers forecast on an otherwise clear day.
  • The slow improvement follows a punishing stretch of weather, with the storm dumping heavy rain across the lower North Island before slamming into the east of the South Island.
  • In Dunedin, six properties were evacuated after firefighters were called to a slip near homes in Anderson's Bay.
  • A property has been issued a Dangerous Building Notice.
