Nearly 100 Australian soldiers have been injured when a grandstand collapsed while they were posing for a group photo.
According to 9News, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, stationed at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, North Queensland, was standing for a photo when the structure gave way yesterday afternoon.
Paramedics were called to the base, and a total of 96 service members were assessed.
Sixteen were taken to Townsville University Hospital, while 41 were treated at the base's medical centre.
None of the injuries were life-threatening, but there were several fractures and broken bones.
"All members that were were injured are currently receiving appropriate medical first aid," Lieutenant Colonel Peter Francis said.
"The area itself has been secured, and an investigation will take place to ensure that incidents like this don't happen again."
