Firefighters have extinguished a large blaze at a two-storey commercial building in Auckland's Onehunga this morning.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said six fire trucks were called to the two-storey building on Patrick Street shortly after 2am, where a large fire was found on the upper level.

At its peak, the fire was deemed a second alarm level, with around 30 firefighters from Onehunga, Ellerslie, Ōtāhuhu, Auckland City, Mount Roskill, Remuera, Papatoetoe, Māngere and Balmoral stations called to the scene.

The spokesperson confirmed to 1News that the fire was contained to the second storey, and that it was quickly extinguished.
Two crews remained on stand by monitoring and dampening down hotspots.

The spokesperson said a fire Investigator and police were requested to attend.
