Two people have been injured following a triple-vehicle crash on State Highway 2 near Upper Hutt this afternoon.
Police said it was notified of the crash at the intersection of Waterworks Rd in Kaitoke around 4pm.
A Wellington Free Ambulance spokesperson told 1News staff treated two people at the scene who "did not require any further treatment". Two others were taken to Hutt Hospital in a moderate condition.
A 1News cameraman at the scene said traffic had backed up in both directions as a result of the crash.
The road was closed but had since reopened.
"Drivers can expect ongoing delays until queued traffic clears and are asked to take extra care when travelling through the crash site," the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said.
