A night out at a Melbourne gentlemen's club ended with a man being hit by a chair hurled by his own friend.

Footage showed the chaotic scene unfold outside Bar 20 on King St in Melbourne's CBD on Friday night, Seven News Melbourne reports.

The two men had attended the club around 9pm before being ejected by security for allegedly being offensive to dancers and other staff.

CCTV footage shows one man being pushed to the ground by security during a tussle outside the venue. His companion then walked next door to a restaurant, grabbing a wooden chair despite a staff member's attempts to stop him.

The man threw the chair towards the front of the club, allegedly aiming at security guards, a co-owner of the club said.

But the chair struck the back of his companion instead, sending him crashing to the ground. The man then got up and walked away from the scene.

Neither police or ambulance services were called to the incident, Seven News reported.
