The British High Commissioner has moved to clarify new rules for New Zealand dual nationals travelling to Britain.
Earlier this month, it was reported anyone classed as a British citizen would need a UK passport to fly there from February 25 under the new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system.
The requirement stands regardless of other passports those with dual citizenship possess.
Today, British High Commissioner to New Zealand Iona Thomas acknowledged the upcoming change had been "met with questions" from travellers.

As a result, she confirmed: "If you have held or currently hold a British citizenship, including if you are a dual national, you cannot use an ETA to enter the UK from February 25.
"You must travel on a British passport, or another passport with a certificate of entitlement," she said.

For New Zealand citizens, Thomas said they would need only an ETA, which could be applied for online and cost about $37.
For those unsure of their status, she recommended visiting the UK government website.
“Our message is simple, check your documentation and plan early to avoid disruption.”
Thomas told reporters at Wellington Airport the UK government had been signalling the change had been coming since 2024.
Earlier this month, travel agents had warned many passengers were unaware of the upcoming change.
While non-British citizens would pay $37 for an ETA, those classed as dual nationals with only a New Zealand passport would need to pay £94.50/$220 for a new UK passport.
Since the announcement, passport wait times had become a key concern for those unaware of the change who were travelling soon, as they would now need to get a UK passport before they could fly.
On Saturday, RNZ reported children of British dual citizens would also need a UK passport for their children before they could fly there as well, as they were automatically classed citizens.
When questioned about this today, Thomas said: "All British citizens must travel on UK passports. If that child is a citizen, they cannot use an ETA, and will need a British passport.
"Again, if someone is unsure of their status, they can check online."
