One dead, one critical after 'serious incident' in Clutha

One person has been found dead and another critically injured after what police are calling a "serious incident" in the Otago settlement of Crichton last night.

Police were called to the incident on Adams Flat Rd at around 6.10pm on Friday.

Detective Sergeant Hayden Smale said a scene guard remained in place at the address while a scene examination was carried out.

"Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing," he said.

"Further updates will be provided when they become available."

St John said it responded to the incident with a first response vehicle, a helicopter and an operations manager, but referred all further inquiries to police.
