Glider crash at Ōmārama leaves one seriously injured

A glider crash at a South Island town left one person in a serious condition this afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash at the Ōmārama Aerodrome on Airport Rd around 3.20pm.

Hato Hone St John responded with one ambulance, one PRIME vehicle and a helicopter, treating a patient in a serious condition.

"The patient is being airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition."

Police said the Civil Aviation Authority was notified.

The authority said it was aware of an incident at Ōmārama but had no further information as yet.
