- Police announced on Saturday that the search at the site would be moving to a "recovery phase" after human remains were found.
- Tauranga City Council has also ordered an independent review into "all aspects leading up to" the landslide.
- The recovery operation was paused on Sunday due to fears of another slip at the site, but has since resumed on Tuesday.
- Bay of Plenty District Commander Superintendent Tim Anderson said police were consulting experts and bringing in more sophisticated equipment to try to understand the area.
