Five teenagers will go on trial for the murder of US PhD student Kyle Whorrall.
The 33-year-old was attacked at a bus stop on St Johns Rd, in St Johns on April 19 last year, sustaining "unsurvivable injuries" and later dying in hospital.
A 16-year-old was charged with murder and aggravated robbery, and a 32-year-old woman was charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder. Four others – all teenagers – were charged with murder in December.
Two of the teenagers appeared at the High Court in Auckland today and pleaded not guilty through their lawyers.
Justice Ian Gault has set down a six-week trial, starting October 19, and granted interim name suppression for all six defendants.
