A man has died after being pulled from the water in a geothermal area in Rotorua.
Emergency services were called to a "water-related incident" at a geothermal area on Tukiterangi St at Whakarewarewa at around 9.40pm on Sunday.
The man had been pulled from the water unconscious and was unable to be revived, police said.
His death would be referred to the coroner.
The Whakarewarewa geothermal area is located south of Rotorua and has around 500 pools, most of which are alkaline chloride hot springs, and at least 65 geysers, the largest being Pōhutu Geyser.
