A man critically injured in a broad daylight shooting at an Auckland property yesterday was fired at by a group of people, police said.
The victim was found at a property on Arthur St in Onehunga shortly after 11am following reports a person had been shot, police said.
The man was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Bunce said today said "several people" had arrived at the property and "discharged firearms at the front of the house".
"The victim has been struck as a result of this," he said.
A scene examination was ongoing and investigators were making inquiries to locate the people allegedly involved.
The man remained in a critical condition at Auckland City Hospital.
“Incidents like this are incredibly concerning, but I want to assure the public that we are doing everything to track these offenders and arrest them," Bunce said.
"At this stage we believe this was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public.”
Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage on or around Arthur St at the time of the incident has been asked to contact police.
"Even the smallest detail could be vital," he said.
