Lotto player becomes first multi-millionaire of 2026 with $10.2m win

The winning numbers were 28, 35, 25, 40, 11 and 24, the Bonus Ball was 27 and the Powerball number was 10.

A Lotto Powerball player from Manawatū-Whanganui took home $10.2 million in last night's draw, becoming the first multi-millionaire of 2026.

Wednesday's winning numbers were 28, 35, 25, 40, 11 and 24, the Bonus Ball was 27 and the Powerball number was 10.

The winning ticket was sold on MyLotto, with the prize consisting of $10 million from Powerball first division and $200,000 from Lotto first division.

It came weeks after an Auckland player struck it lucky with a $5.5 million win.

However, the lucky punter won't be the only Kiwi celebrating as four other Lotto players took home $200,000 each with Lotto first division.

Winning tickets were sold at New World Whitianga, and on MyLotto to players from Auckland, Waikato and Canterbury.

Strike Four was not struck and will roll over to $1.5 million on Saturday — a must win draw.

Anyone who bought their ticket from New World in Whitianga or on MyLotto should check their ticket as soon as possible in-store, on MyLotto, or through the MyLotto App.

Due to cricket coverage on TVNZ 1, Saturday's live Lotto draw will air on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+ at 8pm.
