The New Zealand Rugby Union has today confirmed that All Blacks head coach Scott Robertson has left the role, two years into his four-year contract.

"Both New Zealand Rugby and Scott agree it is in the best interests of the team that he depart his role as head coach," said NZR chairman David Kirk.

In a statement, Roberston said he was "gutted" by the outcome and described coaching the All Blacks as "the honour of my life".

Dismantled gun seized from Waitārere Beach property hours before shooting

The man who died in a shooting which injured three others at a Waitārere Beach property has been named online, as police reveal that a dismantled firearm was seized from the property earlier that day.

A woman, 46, and two males aged 21 and 17 were taken to hospital with critical injuries, where they remain. A 60-year-old man, named as Benjamin Harry Timmins, died at the scene.

Police today confirmed they were called to the property before the incident took place, seizing a dismantled firearm, firearms parts and ammunition from a shed.

UK says dual NZ nationals were told of passport change in good time

Dual nationals living in New Zealand say they are being treated as "second-class citizens" after being told they're no longer welcome back home with their Kiwi passports.

Until now, dual citizens have been able to visit on a New Zealand passport, but they will now only be permitted to visit with a valid UK passport.

The British High Commission said it put out notifications last year to make people aware of the change, despite many dual citizens saying the rule change "came like a bombshell".

ONE GRANNY FLAT

From today, Kiwis can build granny flats up to 70 square metres in size without needing resource or building consents, but the changes still come with conditions.

Housing Minister Chris Bishop has warned the new rules are "not a complete free-for-all", saying the flats must have a simple design and meet the Building Code.
