Bradley Walsh says he hasn't watched the Chase 'in years'

Chase host Bradley Walsh

Bradley Walsh has made a surprising revelation about his hit quiz show The Chase, saying that he hasn't watched the show itself "in years".

Speaking to the Radio Times in an interview with his son Barney Walsh, the Chase host was asked whether the pair watch each other's shows.

"I wouldn't imagine Barney watches The Chase, simply because of his filming schedule," Walsh said, before admitting he hadn't watched the show in years.

"I haven't seen The Chase in years because I don't finish in the studio until five o'clock," he said. He records three episodes of the quiz show in a day.

While the 65-year-old may miss his own programme, Walsh said he’s a regular viewer of Barney’s work on UK medical drama Casualty, where the 28-year-old plays Cameron Micklethwaite.

"I’m an avid fan of Casualty and have loved the series for years," Walsh said. "I like how the team has recently made it more cinematic."

Barney confirmed his own filming schedule also makes it difficult to tune in to The Chase, with production on Casualty often finishing around 7pm.

"But when I’ve got time off and it’s on, I do watch. I love it," he said.

The Chase has remained one of both the UK and New Zealand's most popular shows. Walsh has hosted the programme since its inception in 2009, with original Chasers Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace still appearing regularly.

Other quizzers to join the line-up over the years include Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis.

Watch The Chase UK daily at 5pm on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+
