Residents have been warned to stay indoors as thick smoke billows from a building fire in Dunedin this afternoon.
Eight fire trucks were called to the scene at the Roslyn Scout Hall on School St in Kaikorai around 3.35pm, a Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said.
The fire, measuring 20m by 10m, has engulfed both levels of the two-storey building.
One Facebook post said: "So sad. A lot of children have been through the Scout movement in that building. A lot of history & memories."

An emergency alert was sent out to residents in the Kaikorai area warning them to stay indoors and to close their doors and windows.
"There is a fire in Roslyn producing significant smoke," it read.

A police spokesperson said there was a call to assist Fire and Emergency around 3.40pm.
Cordons were in place on Stuart St from Kaikorai Valley Rd to Highgate.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
