Investigation underway following suspicious house fire near Porirua

Police are making inquiries following a house fire near overnight near Porirua which is being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were called to a house fire on Kalingo St in Waitangirua shortly after 4am.

"Three people were assessed at the scene by ambulance," a police spokesperson said.

"While inquiries into the circumstances of the fire are ongoing, police are treating the incident as suspicious."

They said members of the public may see an increased police presence while enquiries into the incident continued.
