Two dead, one missing after three seperate water-related incidents

Two people have died and one person is missing following separate water related incidents today.

One person died following an incident in Akaroa, Banks Peninsula this afternoon.

Police said it was notified at 1.15pm that a person had been pulled from the water near the Harbourmaster.

"CPR was administered however sadly they were not able to be revived," a police spokesperson said.

Drummond Wharf was cordoned off as emergency services worked at the scene.

Another person died in a separate water-related incident in Lower Kaimai, Bay of Plenty this afternoon.

Police said it was called at about 2.55pm to a location off Poripori Road, where a person had been pulled from the water.

CPR was commenced, however the person died at the scene.

Both deaths would be referred to the Coroner.

A man is also missing after a third water-related incident in the Waikato River this afternoon.

Police said it was called to the river near Graham Island at around 3.30pm to reports of a struggling swimmer being swept downstream.

The swimmer had not been located since.

Emergency services would remain on scene to carry out a search of the area, with inquiries ongoing.
