Kmart has recalled two gel pack products sold over more than seven years due to concerns they may contain a toxic substance.
The retailer announced yesterday it was recalling the Anko Small Gel Pak and Anko Large Gel Pak, which have been sold in stores and online since June 2018.

The products may contain ethylene glycol instead of the non-toxic ingredient glycerol, Kmart said. If the packaging becomes damaged and the substance leaks out and is swallowed, it can cause irreversible injuries or death.
Customers are urged to stop using the gel packs immediately and keep them away from children. The products can be returned to any Kmart store for a full refund.
The small gel pak was sold until December 24, 2025, while the large version was available until December 21 last year.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is the responsible agency overseeing the recall.
