Four people have been arrested after the robbery of an Auckland liquor store, an incident which saw a staff member suffer injuries and the alleged offenders flee on a bus.
Three people entered the store in Auckland's Sunnynook shortly before 9pm, with two people allegedly stealing boxes of alcohol.
"When the store employee attempted to intervene, he was confronted by the offenders and additional associates," a police spokesperson said.
Police said the employee sustained minor injuries.
"The alleged offenders boarded a bus and were tracked by police to Britomart Square, where four people were arrested."
Two of those arrested were found in possession of machetes.
A 22-year-old male has been charged with shoplifting and a 17-year-old male with breach of bail.
