Police seek sightings of 'distinctive' car stolen at gunpoint in Whangārei

Police are appealing for help locating a car with "distinctive mags and stickers" stolen at gunpoint in Whangārei on Boxing Day.

Officers were notified of an aggravated robbery at an address on Collingwood St in Raumanga at around 12.20am on December 26 last year.

Detective Sergeant Pieter Serfontein said two people pointed a gun towards the victim before assaulting him and taking the vehicle.

"The victim received minor injuries and was understandably shaken by the incident."

He said police were now appealing for anyone who witnessed anything in the area at the time of the incident as well as sightings of the vehicle to come forward.

The stolen Volkswagen hatchback had "distinctive mags and stickers", police said.

The dark-coloured 2009 hatchback Volkswagen, registration RBZ53, had "distinctive mags and stickers".

"Anyone who has seen this vehicle or knows its whereabouts is asked to get in touch," Serfontein said.
