A man has been arrested and charged after an alleged hit and run in Hamilton yesterday afternoon.
Officers were notified that a person had been hit by a vehicle on Raymond Street, and the vehicle had fled from the scene shortly after 3pm.
"Police responded immediately, and the victim was taken to hospital via ambulance" a police spokesperson said.
They were in a serious but stable condition as of this morning, police said.
Officers were able to monitor the vehicle's movements using available traffic cameras and sighted the vehicle going up the Kaimais towards Tauranga.
Shortly after 7pm, the vehicle was located and stopped by police on Redwood Lane in Tauriko, a suburb of Tauranga.
Two people from the vehicle were taken into custody.
A 34-year-old man was due in Hamilton District Court today, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
