Two injured, section of state highway closed in Waikato crash

Two people have been injured, one critically, and a section of state highway closed after a crash in the Waikato region this morning.

Police said the two-vehicle crash at the Ōhaupō Rd/Ryburn Rd intersection, south of Hamilton, was reported at 9.15am on Sunday.

St John said three ambulances and a rapid response unit attended.

"Two patients, one in critical condition and one in serious condition, are being transported to Waikato Hospital," a St John spokesperson said.

Motorists should expect delays while emergency services attend the Waikato crash.

Diversions are in place around the scene.
