Police are seeking information around the owner of a bike left abandoned for around a week at the Temple Campsite shelter near Lake Ōhau.
The bike has been unclaimed since at least December 27.
Otago Coastal Search and Rescue Coordinator Sergeant Matt Sheat was concerned the bike indicated a tramper or climber may have run into some trouble while in the outdoors.
"Our concern is that the owner may be overdue from a trip or have got into trouble in the area, and we want to hear from the bike’s owner, or anyone who may know who it belongs to."
"If you recognise this bike, or may have seen who left it at the Temple Campsite shelter, please contact us." said Sheat.
Anyone with information connected to the bike is encouraged to call 105 or provide information online using the reference number 260102/2266.
