A body believed to be that of a man who went missing while jet skiing on Christmas Day has been found at Port Waikato.
A police helicopter discovered the body earlier this morning, a day and a half after three people got into difficulty in the water near the Waikato River Mouth.
"Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with the man’s family at this extremely difficult time," a police spokesperson said in a statement.

Police would be referring the matter to the coroner.
On Wednesday, emergency services rescued a five-year-old child from the water after being called to the scene at about 6.25pm at the coastal settlement south of Auckland.
Surf lifeguards from Sunset Beach Lifeguard Service and Surf Lifesaving Kariaotahi retrieved the child from the Waikato Bar on Christmas Day.

An extensive grid search by the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter failed to locate the missing man before the search concluded at 8pm on Wednesday.
