Two people were taken to hospital after a reported stabbing in Ngāruawāhia, Waikato last night, police say.

At about 11pm, police "received reports of a stabbing" on Market St, a spokesperson said.

"Two people were taken to hospital in moderate condition," police said this morning.

"Police inquiries are ongoing."
