A man has been arrested and charged with murder in relation to the death of a man in Hamilton last week.
Emergency services were called to an address on Lake Cres at around 6.15pm last Thursday, where two people had been injured.
Fifty-five-year-old Jason Poa, also known as Jason Tipene, died at the scene, while another man was taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
Scene examinations were carried out at two locations last week: the Lake Cres property and the toilet block at a yacht club several hundred metres away.
Detective Inspector Daryl Smith said a 21-year-old man was arrested by police today at an address in the Hamilton suburb of Chartwell.
"Police are not seeking anybody else in relation to the death."
He was due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Boxing Day charged with murder.
