Police have named the victim of a homicide in Hamilton last week and appealed for sightings of a car as the investigation continues.
Emergency services were called to an address on Lake Cres at around 6.15pm last Thursday, where two people had been injured.
Fifty-five-year-old Jason Poa, also known as Jason Tipene, died at the scene, while another man was taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
Detective Inspector Daryl Smith said the homicide investigation was continuing and appealed for sightings of a car.
"Police are appealing for any sightings of a Subaru Impreza hatchback, registration: KZH714.
"If you have seen the Subaru or have any other information please make a report online at 105.police.govt.nz, and clicking “Update Report”, or by calling 105. Please use the reference number 251218/5897."
Scene examinations were carried out at two locations last week: the Lake Cres property and the toilet block at a yacht club several hundred metres away.
Smith said police believe those involved had travelled on foot between the two locations.
"We would encourage anyone who may have seen anything in the area to contact us.
"We know this will be an unsettling time for those in our community that such violence occurred in a public place. I can reassure people we are working hard to hold people to account."
