'Is this a wind up?': Bradley Walsh on two bizarrely easy Chase questions

Chase host Bradley Walsh

The Chase host Bradley Walsh was left asking if the show was a "wind up" after two bizarrely simple questions left him comparing the quiz to asking the definition of "hello".

The ITV presenter was presiding over a team of four contestants attempting to win money against chaser Darragh "The Menace" Ennis.

While contestant Barbara, from Seaford, had built up £5000 in the cash builder round, it was her head-to-head round that caused the host to make comment.

Walsh asked the contestant: "What does the phrase 'rock up' mean?"

The options provided were "awaken", "annoy" or "arrive".

After reading the options, the host asked himself: "Is that a joke? Is that a joke question?"

He went on to compare the simplicity of the query to asking a contestant what the word "hello" meant. "What does 'hello' mean is it A) a greeting, B) a football or C) a horse," Walsh joked. "What's the matter with the lot of you?"

Despite a favourable question, Barbara was caught and eliminated.

A pattern of simple questions continued during the next contestant's round.

When Wesley, the next player, stepped up, Walsh was forced to ask another easy question regarding lighters.

The question in the episode was: "What name is given to a small piece of metal that produces a spark in a lighter?" Options were "wick", "match" and "flint".

"Is this a wind up?" the host asked. He told the contestant that if he did not get the answer right, he should "take a good look in the mirror".

Wesley and fellow contestant Kirsten reached the final chase, but the pair were ultimately caught by The Chaser and left empty-handed.

The moment aired during a Series 16 episode, which recently aired in the UK.
