Police are continuing efforts to locate 29-year-old Mitchell Cole, who is wanted after the death of his father and stepmother at a central North island property last week.

Two people were found dead at a rural property in Ruatītī, near Whanganui Regional Park, on December 13.

Cole was identified as a person of interest by police, and the public were urged not to approach him.

Police are now seeking to identify a man who was seen near the intersection of Pukekaha and Ruatītī roads at about 6pm on December 13.

The man was described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, about six feet tall, clean-shaven, with a lean, athletic build.

Police said the man was wearing a singlet, shorts and a baseball cap.

"If this was you, or you know who this was, please contact police via our 105 service."

Authorities were also appealing to anyone who was in or around Ruatītī Rd at around 6pm on December 13 to come forward.

Anyone who sees Cole is urged not to approach him and to call 111 immediately, police reiterated.
