Two injured in firearms incident in Gore

Two people are injured after a firearm was reportedly discharged in Gore this evening.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said they were called to the scene on Aparima St just before 8pm, and have cordoned off the street.

Police do not believe there is any risk to the public, but they have been asked to avoid the area.

"Police are in attendance and making inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident."

St John earlier confirmed it dispatched ambulances and helicopters to the scene.
