Police have launched a homicide investigation after two people were found dead in Ruatiti.
Central District Commander Superintendent Dion Bennett said the victims were located by police at the "rural property" yesterday afternoon.
A scene examination will begin later today and was expected to take several days.
"Post-mortem and formal identification procedures will be carried out in the coming days.
"There will be a heightened police presence in the area as the investigation progresses.
"Police would like to hear from anyone in the Ruatiti area who has information about the incident," Bennett said.

Ruapehu District Mayor Weston Kirton told 1News the deaths would be "devastating" for the isolated community.
"It means a lot to people to lose people in this community, because they're so close knit that it affects everyone. We really feel for the community at large."
Ruatiti is located near the Whanganui National Park, around 21km southwest of Waimarino (National Park).
