King Charles reveals 'good news' in cancer journey

King Charles has shared "good news" about his cancer diagnosis, revealing that his treatment will be reduced in the new year.

In a personal video message, the 77-year-old monarch said that an early diagnosis and "effective intervention" meant his schedule for cancer treatment would be reduced in 2026.

"This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years; testimony that I hope may give encouragement to the 50% of us who will be diagnosed with the illness at some point in our lives," the King said.

"Early diagnosis quite simply saves lives."

The King's video message, recorded at Clarence House two weeks ago, was shown today during UK Channel 4's Stand Up To Cancer show to support a fundraising project with Cancer Research UK.

It marks the biggest update on the King's health condition since he publicly revealed his diagnosis in February 2024.

He has been undergoing treatment since then, with Buckingham Palace announcing in December last year that his treatment would continue into 2025.

While the monarch has not disclosed what kind of cancer he has been diagnosed with, the Palace have confirmed it is not prostate cancer.

King Charles was hospitalised earlier this year after experiencing "temporary side effects" related to a scheduled cancer treatment.
