Helen Clark’s father has died aged 103.
In a statement on Facebook, the former Prime Minister said her father Frederick George Clark - known as George - died peacefully at his Waihi Beach home on December 6.
“Dad was a dedicated family man who always wanted the best for his daughters, and supported us all the way," she said.
“He was born in a nursing home in Frankton on 8 March 1922 and into a farming family at Te Pahu. He attended Kaniwhaniwha Primary School and Mt Albert Grammar School, before returning to the family farm which he ran until his retirement to Waihi Beach with Mum in 1987.”

She added her father was a pillar of the Te Pahu and Waihi Beach communities, and was the “dearly loved husband of our mother, the late Margaret Helen Clark, for 62 years”.
“He was the much-loved father and father-in-law of Helen and Peter, Suzanne and Allan, Jenefer and Bruce, and Sandra; grandfather of Catherine, Elizabeth, June, Rosie, Ashley, Jessica, Rowen, and Lewis; and great grandfather of nineteen.”
Helen Clark thanked her father's carers, the Waipuna Hospice, the Waihi Beach Medical Centre and Waihi Beach Chemist, and all family and friends who have supported him “on his long journey, particularly in recent years as his physical health declined”.
