New photos and videos from Jeffrey Epstein's private island in the Caribbean have been released by House Democrats.
It followed US President Donald Trump signing legislation last month that would force the American Justice Department to release documents from its voluminous files on the convicted sex offender.
Several bedrooms and bathrooms were pictured, as well as a landline with names written on speed dial and a chalkboard with redacted names on it.
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee posted the "never before seen" images from Little St James Island, where Epstein and his associates were accused of abusing women and girls.
It described them as "a harrowing look behind Epstein's closed doors".
"See for yourself," said the statement posted on social media, but provided few new details.
The top Democrat on the oversight committee said the release would ensure public transparency in its investigation into the deceased financier.
The issue came to a head in November after months of efforts by US President Donald Trump's administration to quash it. Both chambers of Congress passed a measure forcing the release of the Epstein files with near-unanimous support.
It isn't clear yet how much new information will be in the files, gathered over two decades of investigations into Epstein's alleged sexual abuse of many girls and women.
Trump, who changed course days before the vote to bless the effort, signed the legislation to begin a a 30-day window for the Justice Department to deliver the records.
Expectations were sky-high, fuelled by years of conspiracy theories promoted by many now in Trump's orbit.
