Warnings issued as heavy rain, thunderstorms expected for North Island

Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected for much of the North Island tomorrow and Thursday, with several warnings issued for multiple regions.

According to MetService, an active low-pressure system is expected to move onto central and northern New Zealand tomorrow before moving east on Thursday.

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing from an Auckland jewellery store – by swallowing a pendant worth more than $30,000.

The pendant was a limited-edition Fabergé James Bond Octopussy Egg worth $33,585, according to court documents.

Former prince Andrew stripped of two more titles

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the disgraced former prince who has been stripped of his titles, has been dealt another blow by King Charles.

The King ordered his membership of the Order of the Garter, to which he was appointed in 2006, be removed, The Independent reports.
