Two teenagers have been arrested following an brazen daylight robbery at a pawnbroker in Auckland's North Shore on earlier this month.

The incident occurred on Mokoia Road in Birkenhead at around 1.35pm on October 1.

Dramatic video taken by a bystander showed a white SUV attempting to block a stolen vehicle outside the shop after three offenders carried out the aggravated burglary.

The stolen vehicle reversed and accelerated past the SUV, which sustained a large dent on its passenger side in the confrontation.

Today, police said three people had entered the commercial premises armed with weapons, which were not firearms.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Renfree said the investigation team had been working hard to identify and locate those involved.

“Late last week, our team executed a number of search warrants at properties in Counties Manukau," he said.

A 16-year-old was then taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery, and was set to appear in the Manukau Youth Court on November 11.

Separately, an 18-year-old was also arrested in relation to the incident and was set to appear in Hamilton District Court today.

Renfree said he was "incredibly pleased" with the progress and the investigation remained ongoing.

“Police take this sort of offending very seriously and will continue to hold offenders to account.”

Further arrests could not be ruled out.
