A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead at a Dunedin property yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to Great King Street at about 2pm after reports of a "sudden death".
A 36-year-old man was found dead at the scene.
"The circumstances of the man’s death remain under investigation, but initial indications suggest he died from non-accidental injuries," Detective Inspector Shona Low.
A scene guard remained in place today as a forensic examination was carried out.
"There will be an increased Police presence in North Dunedin as we work to establish how the man died, and when," Low said.
A formal identification of the man would be carried out over the coming days, as well as a postmortem.
Police urged anyone with information that could help with the investigation to call 105.
